This quote means that to be successful doesn't happen fast, we have to take our time, learn our mistakes and experience new things so then we can successfully do something right and good.
For example, i wanna be good in dancing, but i have to learn new things, learn new moves, maybe not do them right so then i can learn from my mistakes and become a really good dancer.
